Order Reprint of this Story February 24, That means you will need a box for every TV hooked up to Time Warner or, starting March 3, channels will start to disappear from your service. Recent mailings to customers have explained the changes that will happen over the next two months. Time Warner is providing adapter boxes free for one or two years to most customers. Pedelty said the newer adapters here are more expensive and handle high-definition TV, which earlier versions did not. Also, he said, other cable companies mostly already require digital adapters and charge monthly rent for them, and satellite TV companies also charge for the equipment their customers need. Time Warner has said it is making the changes to improve signals for basic cable TV and to allow it to speed up Internet service for its broadband customers. The added charge has drawn objections from consumer groups that point out basic cable customers are being asked to pay more each month to keep the same channels they already have. Comcast and Time Warner are seeking federal approval to merge.

By Chris Boylan Question: I had the electrician place six cable outlets in various locations in the home for the purposes of high-speed internet and television viewing. All the cables lead to a central panel in the basement. I would rather install an outdoor antenna for over-the-air TV and HDTV, rather than paying the cable company extra money for programming I don’t watch that also currently lacks local HD channels.
My question is, can I integrate a UHF-antenna’s signal to the cable distribution if the cable company is using it for high-speed internet? If so, what is the best approach? Hi, Aaron, Congratulations on your impending new home. You must be very excited. Most of my power wires have been in the walls since , so I envy all that shiny new copper wire! In terms of your question, the answer is “it depends.
And in this case, all you’d need to do would be run one additional coax cable up to your roof to plug into the roof antenna, plug the inside end of this cable into the input jack of a 4-way or 6-way splitter in the basement possibly an amplified splitter, depending on the quality of your over-the-air signal , then plug the ends of the cables that you know will be used for televisions into the outputs of this splitter. In this case you would plug only the specific cable you intend to use for your cable modem into the cable company feed coming into the house.
If, however, you are intending to use one of these six cable outlets let’s say, the one in your living room for both a cable modem and over-the-air antenna reception, then you’re probably going to run into problems with interference.

Using a network with two routers makes sense in a small business when you run out of ports on a first router to connect computers or devices to. Setting up the two routers is a fairly straightforward process and should only take about an hour. Attach the coaxial cable coming into the building, which provides Internet access, to your cable modem’s coaxial connector.
This is necessary if your modem is not already installed. If it is already set up, go on to step 3.
You can only hook up one cable modem per account, so this should only affect one of your six outlets. Then you’d use the distribution panel/splitter in the basement to route your over-the-air antenna .

Long term Time Warner Cable customers know the drill. Every year, many call and complain about the high price of cable service and ask customer retention specialists for a better deal to stay. Some of these packages were cheaper than new customer promotions. The concept of retention pricing is simple: As a result, customers quickly learned all they had to do to pay a lower cable bill is to ask for a lower cable bill.
Time Warner Cable developed pricing promotions for virtually everyone.

Usually, the installer will set up the cable box when installing the cable. You may want to add optional equipment later, however, such as a home theater receiver. If you do, you will need to set the box up again. Setting up the box involves making wiring connections. Step 1 Place the Scientific Atlanta box in a location that is close to the electrical outlets and on a stable surface. Make sure ventilation holes on the box aren’t blocked by additional equipment.

January 2, Their pitch is that they’re converting certain channels from analog to digital. From searching around on the internet I haven’t been able to figure out what exactly I need to buy. Can anyone suggest a digital adapter that would work in this scenario? Also, I’ve never streamed video from my cable box before I do rent one. This may be another option instead of getting an adapter. Just wondering if anyone has thoughts on video streaming? I truly despise Time Warner yet another money-sucking vampire squid which is why I’m going out of my way to figure out my other options Many thanks for your help!
I’ve never heard of 3rd party digital boxes being used, only some digital receivers that convert analog airwave signals into digital, but this only gives you a few channels. Most cable companies require you to use a brand they support, as the box would have to be added into their system for it to see what channels you should have. If you can have 3rd party boxes, I’m not surprised they wouldn’t help you, as it’s not something they would likely be able to “officially support”.
The technician I spoke to Eddie was super awesome.

It never worked all night. Called and spoke to someone who said they would have to schedule an appointment to come take a look at what the problem was.
Didn’t know what time they would be there but was told that I needed to be there.

Art by Bob Kane and Jerry Robinson. However, this car was never mentioned by name as the Batmobile, and the concept of a red car was abandoned in subsequent stories. Although the Batplane was introduced in Detective Comics 31, the name “Batmobile” was not applied to Batman’s automobile until Detective Comics 48 February The car’s design gradually evolved in early Batman stories.
It became a “specially built high-powered auto” by Detective Comics 30, and in Batman 5 March , it featured a bat hood ornament and a darker exterior color. Eventually, the predominant designs included a large, dark-colored body and bat-like accessories, including large tailfins scalloped to resemble a bat’s wings. Other bat-vehicles soon followed, including the Batcycle , Batboat , and Robin’s Redbird. Three pages after it was introduced, it was forced off a cliff by the Joker to crash in the ravine below.
However, an identical Batmobile appeared in the next story in the same issue. Silver Age of Comic Books The live action television series was so popular that its campy humor and its Batmobile a superficially modified concept car , the decade-old Lincoln Futura , owned by George Barris whose shop did the work were quickly introduced into the Batman comic books.
But the high camp and general silliness of the television show did not sit well with long-time Batman comic book fans. So, when the series was canceled in , the comic books reacted by becoming darker and more serious, including having Batman abandon that Batmobile. Its replacement for a number of years was a much simpler model with a stylized bat’s head silhouette decal on the hood being the only decoration of note.
The s TV style Batmobile still appears from time to time in the comic books, most recently in Detective Comics and the issues of Batman Confidential.

I was told I would hear from them shortly regarding my installation appointment. I called customer service and they told me my information had not yet been entered into their system! They then told me the soonest they would be able to set up my Internet was Sunday June 13th! Keep in mind that I am a college student taking summer classes and I need an Internet connection to keep up with my schoolwork.
My question to you is: Is nearly two weeks an acceptable amount of time to go without Internet?
Using Existing Cable Units for Your OTA Television Antenna
Instead, cable companies are starting to offer slimmed-down bundles of channels that you can stream to your TV over your Internet connection – sort of like Netflix , although mostly not as convenient. Last fall, Comcast, Time Warner Cable and its buyer-in-waiting, Charter Communications, followed suit with their own online bundles. These now represent the latest gambit from the quasi-monopolistic cable industry , which continues to shed TV customers as more people watch online video from a variety of new outlets.
The bundles make good business sense, since cable companies save money on technician visits.

Maybe once you hear my story you will think long and hard about training your associates on knowing the facts about the company they work for and how to provide great customer service.
I know some of the people who do work for Spectrum are contract labors, but they are still doing work for Spectrum and should be trained on GREAT customer service. I cannot remember which day in June but an agent came up to us in Wal-Mart and signed us up for Spectrum. I believe installation day was about the 18 for them to come. I was up early to make sure I did not miss the 8 am appointment or any calls regarding the appointment.
The first guy never called and never showed up. I was not a happy camper, but my husband came home and spent 5 hours trimming our trees so they could come out the next day and install the cable. So yes, they were putting the cable in the air because remember they said they could not bury it. The next day came and no one showed up to install the bundle of TV, Voice, and Internet. I was so aggravated I cancelled Spectrum on the spot.
